Mantis was introduced as a companion to Peter Quill's father, Igo, and mainly used her emotional abilities to help Igo fall asleep in human form. But when she contacts each other, she can also feel other emotions. She was also somewhat naive, and Drax had not been provoked when she mentioned to her that she was Igo's pet. But when she realized that Quail's ability would help Igo achieve his purpose, she decided to help the guards fight Igo.
